Synopsis: “All Beauty and Carnage” is an epic and moving documentary about the life of artist and activist Nan Goldin and her attempts to hold pharmaceutical giant Purdue Pharma, owned by the Sackler family, accountable for the opioid epidemic. The story focuses primarily on the creation of P.A.I.N (Prescription Addiction Intervention Now), a group founded by Goldin, which seeks to hold accountable the various museums and arts institutions that collaborated with the Sackler family in exchange for financial support. At the centre of the film are some of Goldin’s greatest works, such as “The Ballad of Sexual Dependency”; “The Other Side”; “Sisters, Saints and Sibyls”; and “Memory Lost”.
